SUPER-RUGGED NEW PROXIMITY SENSORS WITHSTAND WELD-SLAG, SCRATCHING AND ABRASION.
Minneapolis, MN-July 20, 2000-TURCK Inc. has announced Stoneface inductive proximity sensors, robust devices offering durability similar to stainless steel face sensors, at standard sensor prices. The sensors' rugged front face is made of an advanced thermoset plastic specifically developed for improved resistance to weld slag, scratching, pitting and abrasion in MIG, TIG, and resistance welding applications. Stoneface sensors are available with unplated brass, stainless steel or Teflon-coated barrels. The new sensors are ideal for applications in the automotive assembly, body and power train industries where abrasion is a factor.
For exceptional mounting flexibility, a unique eurofast connector and mounting bracket allow the sensor to be mounted straight or at a right angle to the cord. An optional bracket is also available for mounting Stone-lace sensors at a
0o to 20o rotational angle in applications requiring a precise sensor angle. Cubical models feature a fully-rotatable sensing head that allows them to be mounted in any of five directions, straight up, North, South, East, or West for the ultimate in sensing flexibility.
Stoneface sensors are available in Uprox and ferrite-core styles. Both styles are available in embeddable and non-embeddable models and feature short circuit, overload, wire-break and reverse polarity protection.
Designed with a non-ferrite core, the Uprox models are unaffected by the strong electromagnetic AC or DC fields found in resistance welding operations. Uprox models are capable of sensing all types of metal at the same range, including mild steel, stainless steel. copper, brass and aluminum. This feature allows users to purchase and inventory fewer sensors and eliminates downtime for adjustments when target materials change. Uprox models also feature a patented 3-coil circuit design that provides up to 350% more range than standard proximity sensors. The added range provides superior mounting flexibility.
Stoneface sensors are available in 12 mm, 18 mm and 30 mm (0.48", 0.72" and 1.2") barrel style bodies; and
Q-style cubical bodies measuring 25 mm or 40 mm (1.0" or 1.6") square. They have a repeatability < 2% of rated operating distance, and are available with NPN (sinking) or PNP (sourcing) outputs. Stoneface sensors are available in 20-250 VAC or 10-300 VDC models.
Rugged and dependable Stoneface sensors withstand harsh sensing environments and meet NEMA 1, 3, 4, 6P and IP67 seal rating standards. An exceptionally wide operating temperature range, -300 to 850C (-220 to 1850F), enables the Uprox models to perform better in both high and low temperature applications. They can be mated with a tough 2 meter
minifast cordset.
