NEW PVDF CAPACITIVE SENSORS OFFER EXCEPTIONAL CHEMICAL RESISTANCE.
TURCK has announced new PT30 and KT34 PVDF Capacitive Sensors, barrel style sensors designed to solve applications in harsh chemical environments. Constructed of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), the housing, cable, cord grip and mounting brackets of the new sensors are immune to damage from contact with most
industrial use chemicals. Capacitive sensors reliably detect all metallic and non-metallic materials, including water, metal, wood, glass, cardboard, plastic, concrete block, glue, thin wire, silicon wafers, and numerous other materials.
PT30 and KT34 Sensors are an ideal solution for demanding applications such as wafer fabrication and caustic washdown, in industries including Semiconductor, Food/Beverage, Sewage Treatment, Chemical Handling, Paint, and Adhesives.
Especially significant, these rugged sensing devices feature a potentiometer for simple sensitivity adjustment, and achieve exceptional sensing ranges. The 30 mm (1.2") diameter, threaded barrel PT30 models provide a 1 0 mm (0.4") sensing range with repeatability <2% of rated operating distance, even when completely embedded in steel. The 34 mm (1.3") diameter, smooth barrel non-embeddable KT34 models achieve a 20 mm (0.8") sensing range with the same repeatability rating.
The PT30 and KT34 4-wire DC, 10-65 VDC, capacitive sensing devices include highly visible green and yellow LEDs that indicate "POWER ON" and "OUTPUT ENERGIZED." Both models feature complementary outputs, one normally-open and one normally-closed, with either NPN (sinking) or PNP (sourcing) configurations. These sensors are also equipped with integral protection against short-circuit, overload, wire-break, reverse polarity, and transient voltages.
These new sensors also feature a compensation electrode that minimizes false outputs due to contamination on the sensor face. The compensation circuitry ignores splashing water and dust buildup, which are common in capacitive sensor applications.
The new sensors, available in flush and non-flush mounting styles, include a
potted-in two meter (6.5') PVDF-jacketed, PVC insulated cable with an aluminized polyester shield and drain wire. These durable devices operate in temperatures from -250 to + 700 C (-l 30 to +1 580 F), and meet NEMA 1, 3, 4, 6,13 and IEC IP67 environmental standards.
