History MacPherson
Control Products was founded in 1959 by Frank MacPherson as an
engineering-sales agency for electro-mechanical control and transmission
devices; specifically DC variable speed drives and fixed field clutches
and brakes. The agency was responsible for sales in the Greater New York
Metropolitan Area including Southeast New York, Long Island and Northern
New Jersey.
In 1963 a distributorship division was established and existed as a
separate but coordinated entity. The distributorship was also involved in
the sale of electro-mechanical components, with a primary focus on
instrument gearmotors and related devices. In 1969 the sales agency and
distributorship divisions were merged into one company.
With the goal of becoming more automation oriented, MacPherson Control
Products broadened its product scope to include count & count control
devices, photoelectric & proximity sensors, web tension control
equipment, AC variable frequency drives, motion control systems, and
programmable logic controllers. As an authorized stocking distributor of
Automation Products & Systems, MacPherson Control Products now
provides Value-Added Services in many products areas including:
